***If your not mechanically inclined then take it to a mechanic***

What year, make, model of car?

    If you are then:
    1. Check your Brake fluid level
    2. make sure your brake fluid res. cap is sealing properly and not damaged
    3. Bleed your brakes Front and rear
    4. Bad brake master cylinder?

That is where i would start. Hope this helps

its honestly a question im asking in regards for my little brother. he just picked up a 1991 pontiac firebird with the 3.1mpi v6. I havent had a chance to look at all those issues, but i have took it for a few rides around the block. thats when i noticed his problem....he thinks its fine, but trust me-its not. I hope to blame it on that car having a v6 in it, but i was deff not impressed with that car. My 95 GA GT just seems so much more ballsier than that crap ass car. thanks for the help redZ. Ill check it out and repost what i find

My guess would be master cylinder. And those iron head engines don't flow as well as aluminum head engines. The main point to make an engine produce more power is the more air you can get in and out in an engine, the more power it can produce, hence your GA being ballsier then his 'bird. Aluminum > Iron heads.

You might want to have a good look at your Brake Booster....even if all of your brake lines were full of air..(this is taking the position that you are concerned that your pedal will not return to the *not in use* position) ..the brake pedal itself returns to it's normal position of *full off* via the return spring inside the booster housing. It's a dual diaphragm booster, the return spring is just behind the front housing cover.
