I have a 93 z34 . I no the brakes suck on this car. I took all the tires off to look at the brakes and the front calipers where moving all over. Is this normal for this car or do i have to replace the caliper stay and put new slide pins in ? The car has 68k on it and the brakes have ben done a few times . I have the records of all the work that was done on the car. They did replace all the calipers .
Thank you for your help ! Don

I don't think you have a problem with your calipers. The reason why the calipers move when the wheel isn't on it... the wheel holds the rotor in place. So without the wheel there, the caliper and rotor can move. Put a few lug nuts against the rotors and see if the calipers move.

they still move a round . Not just back and forth up and down. I no there going to go side to side a little . I have not seen brakes that move that much . The caliper is touching the bottom of the caliper stay. Is tha normal?
      Thanks Don

I know that these brakes are weird, but a small amoutn of caliper movement when the rotor is secure is normal for the front.

These type of brakes don't need to be alined because they are self-directed every time you press the pedal.

okay.... your calipers are moving up and down with the wheels on... you need to go to auto zone and buy new mouting bolts... there is a bushing in there that rots out for some reason... i had one fail right after i changed the brakes and rotors... but thats because i had to use a blow torch to unlock that stupid star nut design and i fried the bushing into a wonderful goo... i noticed it when i went over bumps i heard a tapping noise... its your mouting bolts... take one out and inspect it... then take it to auto zone and get the set of new ones... i dont think it cost more than 10 bucks. if you ahev any more questions feel free to ask.... these were my front ones... and do yourself a favor and replace all the bolts... dont just change one side... it would be pointless... and you need to get some brake grease to put in them... its a simple job... only about 4 hours.
