  • pontiac STE rear caliper rebuild - help

I'm rebuilding apair of STE calipers that I had purchased off ebay. I got the piston out just fine using a bike pump, and the piston appears to be free of nicks or corrosion (). I removed the inner piston seal, quite simple, but the outer dust seal, I cannot budge for one reason or another. I've already destroyed the seal in more ways than one, trying to remove it, but it's firmly lodged in the bore.

Any tips on getting this damn thing out? And yes it's the one that's on the outside and covers the piston to prevent dust from getting in..

    thanks

The boot is pressed into the housing bore, to get it out one needs to secure the caliper in a vise and then using a healthy sized screwdriver you work up the boot by wedging the end of the screwdriver under the outer edge of the seal and and pry it up by laying the screwdriver flat across the top surface of the seal/bore.
