ok... So i'm reading that the '95 and up cavys are able to have the rear drums swapped out for discs. I auto cross and I would love it if there was a way to put rear discs on my 92 cavy. CAN IT BE DONE? Are there kits you can buy or is it a deal where you have to fab up something to make it work? Let me know any info on this. Thanks!

it can be done, there are several different ways to swap rear disks. the 3rd gen guys can do it very easy by doing the 99+ alero independent rear suspention swap, its pretty much a bolt in. for us 2nd gen guys, you have a couple options still
-neon rear disks
-daytona disks
i did the daytona swap, once i had the machining done it was prety much a bolt on. the plates need to be machined out to fit the j-body wheel bearing assembly.
you can see the original holes and how much it was machined. the parking brake was actualy easy to get working, i used 92 beretta cables and had to weld on a peice to the adjuster to make it long enough. i also had to cut about 1" off the spring on the cable inside the drum to make it work. the end result
the neon swap is very much the same. the only advantage of the neon swap is the calipers are mounted high (the daytona swap you much flip the plates side to side mounting the caliper bellow the center of the wheel, like an f-body) and you can get slotted rotors for the neon.the upside to the daytona swap is you have 2 choices, big or small. the 14" wheel version has 10 5/8" solid rotors, this is what i used, it actualy works quite well with my 92+ fronts without an adjustable proportioning valve. the 15/16" version found on shelby daytonas and all turbo II dodges is 11" vented rotors. it would work well if you had 11"+ front rotors, like the 3rd gen n/w/f body brake swap, or the caddillac sts swap.
