Uh? How did your ADDCO bar move with the addco bushings? When I had the addco bushings and the center link bushings I coudln't move my NOT EVEN 1 MILLIMETER!. The whole car would sway back and forth! Not the bar. I confirmed this several times when I finished the installation.

Using the factory brackets with that 22mm insulator for the center really does tighten the bar up. Super tight in fact.

If you do all of that then you will have ZERO movement without help or need for any other modifications.

I went by their directions for a car with no rear sway bar, and my bar doesnt move at all. Even with poly grease on all the bushings.

my bar moved also with the ES bushings, so i put a small spacer between the strut body and the bushing and no more problems.

keep us updated on the solid inner mounting.

Would this apply to a 1.5 Gen Lumina as well? I'm thinking about getting a set of Addco sway bars for my car. If they do all I will need then is to go under the car so I can understand what you are talking about.

just find a factory 7/8" rear bar. it will be cheaper than the addco bar and the same size. then, youll need the same parts i would think.

I didn't realize they were the same size, so I would assume my '95 Monte Z34 parts car should have it.

I think you have to look for a Lumina Police Package Car

Yeah, but the factory 7/8" sway bar is stupid. The driver side goes up at an angle and it doesn't give much support for the driver side rear. The passenger side looks similar to the addco bar and gives firm support.

I'm REALLY thinking about ordering the rear sway bar for the Gen 1s. Anything has to work better than the stock bar.

Notice my attached pix. The Driver side is almost flat coming up to the braket, while the passenger side has a nice "hump" that gives firm support.

It would be my hope that Gen 1 Addco bar would work significantly better. Thoughts anyone?

sway bar from a gen 1 WILL NOT WORK on a gen 1.5

My bar had the ES bushings on the outsides, and the new hangers and monte carlo 22mm bushings on the inners. It was super tight when I tried to move it around by hand, but after driving it just kept wanting to go to 1 side. Adjusted it one day, went back to the same side.

So what I did was weld those washers on... hope it's strong since they are under a good bit of stress... in order to get the bar about 1" from each strut, using the washer idea, it comes extremely hard to install due to the fact that you can not move it towards the other side to make the side your working on fit. It was a big pain of wedging the whole thing on, but now it's ultra tight and impossible to move unless those welds snap.

So why not? From my understanding the only difference is the Gen 1 had a Fiberglass leaf spring that you replace with the addco sway bar. The only thing I noted different from the few pictures I have seen is that the Addco sway bar mounts to the rear of the strut instead of the front of the strut like on my car.

Heck it sounds like people are using the Gen 1.5 strut hangers for the middle-ish of the car, so that says the height is right.

                            Thanks!

I don't understand how the bar will still move to one side if you have it installed properly??

Because there is nothing to hold the bar in place. Look at the stock bar, it has stops on each end to prevent it from going side to side.

When the bar flexes hard from you driving hard, it wants to go to 1 side because it is being shoved to 1 side, along with being shoved up and down. With the addco bar, the only thing to keep it from going side to side is the center hangers. They hold decent, but not good enough since there is barely any friction holding those 22mm bushings onto the bar on the hangers. The insides of the bushing are fuzzy, it's meant to slide all over whatever it holds without needing any grease. It works for whatever application those bushings were made for, but they don't work all that great on a swaybar like this.

With the hangers bolted to the bar all the way, and those 22mm bushings on, I can slide the entire hanger all the way around the bar. It's very hard to pull to the side, but the flex on the bar from the car is much stronger than I am.
