ok so ive seen a bunch of guys do the corvette brake conversion. well in the interest of keeping my stock chrometechs, cuz i like em, has anyone tried the lumina/monte carlo...other w body brackets and calipers? ive seen how close the calipers are with the camaro and corvette and its not good for me, bunch of rocks, gravel, etc. around here. im sick and tired of my warped rotors, this is the second time in 3 months that i have refinished them for that reason, so i want a better solution. n e 1 care to chyme in?

Your main problem is the fact that you are resurfacing the rotors..W body rotors don't really hold up well to that. You are best off getting a new set of rotors all around, and a nice set of brake pads...PepBoys Prostop Ceramics are actully quite good, they last very long and don't dust, abraid or warp rotors. As for Rotors, unless you are getting something fancy, I recommend the one piece cast design, doesnt matter who makes it as long as it's one piece cast, they are less resistant to warpage than the composite type. If your car is a '88-'93 I recommend getting new rear brake slider pins made of stainless steel. $54.99 #H99 Bendix kit at www.partsamerica.com. They are alittle pricy but they work. I haven't had brake problems in years. Just normal long wear. One tip though, if you do have th early rear brakes To retract the rear piston, one side likes to be pressed in while the other side likes to be twisted and pressed. One last tip is to start braking early.

If It means anything I'm from the NYC area so I might not have alot of dirt roads to chew up my equipment but I do sit in high volume traffic often. So far I've been pleased with my approach on the braking system as it has been trouble free thanks to a better aftermarket these days.

the rotors that i had were one piece cast vented rotors and still warped. so i took the surface off to see if that would help. i have an N body (gagt) right now, i was just wondering if the w body calipers (twin piston) would be better to stop the warping.

Oh I thought you were in a W car..in that case I know you have a few options for the front of your car... An N body expert will hopefully chime in. what year is your car?
