having a nice car to show off is one thing, but when you take the next step and start stripping it for racing it quickly becomes something that's undesierable to drive for long distances.

these meets aren't about the cars, they're about what's under the hood, and what's in the cooler.

        Oh come on now.

I get my drag radials, jack, jack stands, tool boxes, cooler, enough clothes for a weekend, my wife AND a 10X10 EZ-Up in my Beretta, and I don't have a fold down rear seat.

Then drive it at 3500 RPM (3.73 FDR) to the track, beat the living crap out of it, then drive it home.

BerettaFest Albany last weekend. 7 hours each way, no A/C! Ran 14.15. 14.16

You're just not trying hard enough.

Except that's about 1/3rd of my drive time to the meet.

No matter how hard you try, you aren't going to convince me to drive a TT 660 2000+ miles round trip (with supplies), specially if there's the 4 kids and the wife going with...

EDIT: And what are you talking about trying hard enough, neither of y'all showed up!

              i know 6 people + fbody = dividing by 0

and BROKE does not help. i'd have went if the exhaust was piped directly through the dash and out the window. money was my only factor as to not going. give me a damn moped and i'd still go. not sure if i would make it there, but i would try...

As I recall, you were broke and sans car

Thanks for letting me borrow some pants so I could race

By the way, I have crabs!

Not quite sans a car (got 2 with working 660's), just sans a car at the meet :P You are quite welcome on the pants. Not getting to race because of pants would piss me off, so I wouldn't expect anyone else to go through it if I had a spair pair. Kidding about the crabs too, lol.

I've seen some build some mean mopeds (an oxymoron, I know). I almost considered a big bore kit, stroker crank, racing cdi, carbon fiber reed valves, bigger carb and upgraded variator kit for mine, but again, $$$ (and the 1 gallon fuel tank...). I've seen videos of people riding wheelies at 75 with them. Not really something I want to do, but mine isn't completely stock. Knife edged the dividers in the intake ports, hogged out the exhaust port (big mistake :/), removed a washer in the variator which brought the pulley halves closer together making the belt go farther out (more speed- think of the way you change gears on a mountain bike), and I've tuned the carb some but I need to re-jet it. It's no speed demon, but it has a few miles on it and will still maintain 55mph down the road. I still get around 100mpg with it now but I would hate to see what kind of mileage it would get with all that while still retaining the teeny tiny gas tank. I might make it to the gas station down the street, fill it up, head home and have enough gas to get back to the gas station again if I went that route, lol.

Meh, crabs are easy to get rid of!

Simply shave off half of the hair, and light the other side on fire. When they come running out, stab them with an ice pick.

I know you have cars, but with no gas money, might be tough to make a 10hr trip

                                i'm SO GLAD you asked!!!

basically, it involves a bunch of dumbasses i met on active duty.... they decided to light farts on fire and ended up burning half of their pubes off in the process... i believe there was a video but i don't want to know if it survived...

EDIT: the moral of the story is: what has been seen, cannot be unseen...
