i agree, plus i doubt a hotel/motel would allow us to have a bonfire in the parking lot...

Honestly, I say just do the campsite. If there are people that don't want to camp, then let them determine their own hotel accomodations. The camp ground allows for people to sit around and chat all night long. This includes people staying at a hotel - they just have to leave at some point to sleep.

OK, so this week I''m going to get in touch with Beech Bend park about camping and the drag racing to see if we can do a group deal on campsites and racing. I'll also be calling the Corvette plant about the tour. Initially, I'm going to assume we'll need a dozen campsites/rooms, and 20 people going on the tour. Cautious optimism on my part, but I'd rather bet small and have to increase numbers than the opposite.

The decision I need your help with is do we camp or stay in a hotel? That's item #1 on my agenda to sort out. Item #2 is the date. I have spoken to some people about that and the weekend I want to avoid planning the meet for is the first weekend in August (Pontiac Nationals), and given the news that just came out today about Pontiac, I know some people who are going to make going to that a priority. I have a VW fest over labor day weekend, however that is a national holiday and people will have that Monday off, and I would blow that off to do this instead. If you guys would like to spend that weekend having a meet, it would mean an extra day on Monday as opposed to Thursday.

Please help me with your input over the next couple days. Also, please try to keep the thread on point. I know it may be a long trip for some people, but you're either willing to make it or you aren't. I hope you are, but I don't need to hear why you aren't.

They have hot showers at the camp grounds...just bring some flip flops The cars are right next to the tents too so that works out really well. Minibar? We have coolers. Can't help you on the TV though. We have fire, which trumps tv for me.

I'm NOT a camper and anything less than a hot shower, mini-bar and a 35" TV is not having me stay the night, LOL!!

But a good motel is fine with me.

    Hotels SUCK.

I prefer my car outside my room and in general it leads to more interaction if folks are outside rather than three or four floors seperated from the group.

But I am all for this. Let me know if I can help out!

I gotz an R/C helicopter you guys can watch me crash

I'm going to see if this will be feasible for me (and/or family), but if I go alone, will probably need to ride w/someone once there since I will be flying.

No Firebird, as I doubt it will be done by then

    That's 944 miles for me
