  • Billet timing chain covers for engine swaps

I have been working on some new items for the 60V6 engines. These are designed to simplify engine swaps into other vehicles such as MGs, sand rails, etc and will be available in the near future. The first model uses a stock clockwise rotation waterpump, dampner & pulleys from a RWD. The WP inlet faces to the front to reduce hose clearance issues normally found on the RWD models. The second model is setup to use an aftermarket electric waterpump and FWD dampner. Both models have mounting features for an external CPS for those wanting to use one. Also, either unit is designed to fit any pushrod 60V6, including the LZ engines but VVT must be disabled.

The front engine mounts are poly, allow more side clearance, easy to mount and look really sharp.

    Stock WP version

Electric WP version that has been glass beaded

    Near future products will be:
    Billet ALT brackets
Reworked 3.1 valve covers that are ballmilled and will fit GEN3 engines
    VVT elimination kit for LZs
    TB adapters for LZs

I belive that all items will be available through the 60V6 store.

i'm so pissed I chose a DOHC now for my Locost instead of a pushrod with all this cool stuff you're making for them.

thinking of making a electric waterpump cover/timing cover without the poly bushing mounts? I have a fiero and would like to have an electric wp setup, but don't think all that extra material with the poly will clear my accessories.

I know a company made one for MG swaps and stuff and I emailed the guy and he said he no longer made them for lack of interest. KillerBv6 I think was his website. He had the kits for $300. If you can come up with somethng similiar for the same price I am interested.

              Marc -

What are the possibilities of machining a front cover that would allow the use of a double roller timing chain setup, provisions for the power steering pump, the mounting holes for the N-body engine mount and any other minor mods to fit the N-body?

Also have you had a chance to get to the FPR adjustment brackets?

Phil.... The location of the dampner, belt and pulleys limit how deep the timing chain cavity can be. I do not know how much more is needed to clear a double row setup but it appears as though the cavity can only go about 3/32" deeper at most. How much more clearance is needed? The cost to build one from billet would be pretty expensive but I may have an idea depending on the space needed.

I have designed the bracket and it will rotate the FPR 15 degrees and that should be enough to clear the 3500 UIM. We will be making a small test batch in the very near future. Hopefully, this weekend if we get this job off of the machine in time. We have been extremely busy the past two months and my time has been limited.

Glad to hear that you have been busy, better busy than slow.

I am not sure how much deeper the cover would need to be however I will ask Todd and see if he can tell me as I think he was woking on it at one time or another.

As soon as the FRP brackets are complete, I want one so I can get my 3500 plenum back on.

                  Keep up the good work.

The covers from Dann at KillerB were modified FWD covers for use with a remote electric water pump as shown here. http://www.killerbv6.com/images/View...ine-conve-.jpg He does sell a billet cover for the same application but it is higher priced at $655.

We plan to make plain billet covers later but there are many items ahead of them. I do not think the billet covers will ever be in the $300 price range unless there is a huge demand for them and I don't see that happening. Design, programming, set-up time, fixturing and tooling costs add up and has to be covered. I want to help the 60V6 community as much as possible but am also in business to make money.

I don't think you could have picked a more noble (and difficult!) goal.

I second the W body suggestions the other guy made. If you could come up with a poly dogbone mount setup for less than FFP I think you would have many, many takers. I, for example, would like to have poly dogbones but shudder at the cost they quoted me (especially since I want a 3 bushing dogbone used in HM282 apps) Even if you sold a rework service on existing bones to machine and refit with poly bushings... I think you could hit up the local scrappers and get a big box of them and set up a jig to cut the insides to a consistent diameter in no time and sell them for $50 or so a pair and get cores back all day long.

The other thing I think you could sell at least a few of is lower engine mounts, the one that goes under the crank pulley end of the engine. The stock ones are great for NVH isolation but are pretty pathetic once you apply power, and trying the NAPA solid replacement is a joke. If you could come up with something like West Coast Fiero or Rodney Dickman or the like make for lower engine mounting, using some common, cheap poly bushing I think you could turn a profit.

Sorry for the post whoring..... Cover looks nice!
