  • Is this a 3.4l

I got the pics, though fuzzy (I'm taking that digital camera back, image stabilization does not work). What do you think, 3.4 GM or 3.5 izusu engine?

Sorry about them being fuzzy, like I said, its the camera not my shaking...

Isuzu. GM motors never had aluminum blocks like that.....

Aww, could not find server. I wanted to see this thing!

      I'll trade you a 3.4L for that 3.5L!

      ---
Edit: Now it works. Totally an Isuzu engine... based on "ISUZU" being cast in the intake. Newer than I'm familliar with, newer 3.2L or 3.5L. My brother has a '93 Rodeo with the 3.2L, doesn't look like that.

If crate shipping wasn't so expensive, I'd trade ya for sure. Now I need to take a trip over to pirate4x4 and see if those fellas know more about it and what will mount to it.

Hah, good freaking luck. At least you will have a unique jeep if you can make it work, but I'm not sure such an unconventional swap is going to be worth the trouble. Do you have the tranny, wiring, and ecu? I don't see any part of this being a bolt-up install like a 3.4L would be. If you have access to the Trooper chassis for reference and stealing bits, you might have a chance...

          Sorry, I'm a pessimist.

I'm patient. And I have alot of time to start looking for parts on the cheap. I bought a single wide and a half and I've been remodeling the inside so I have to get it ready soon for winter. I have another engine in the other jeepster (3.7l Dauntless) that needs some work and TLC. I am starting to think that fuel injection is a PITA for a trail vehicle. Maybe a crate 350 with no comptuer run on propane would be a better swap. I'll what the opionions on pirate4x4 are, and see how badly I get flamed.

              I found out its a 3.2l engine from a 92-95 Isuzu Trooper. With a bellhousing from a 93-earlier S-10 with a 2.8l, I can put that SM465 in it.

A 3.2L, no kiddin'? As mentioned, my bro's '93 Rodeo has one, I didn't THINK it looked like that, but maybe it does... I've never seen it out of the engine bay.

His Rodeo is a little beat up, and worth jack as trade-in, so we (I) might build it after he gets a new rig.

sm465? you planning on some heavy ass wheeling? that's a bulletproof tranny if there ever was one. i've got them in my 1 tons, first gear is good for 8mph to redline with my 454 and 32" rear tires.

Now was that 3.2L a conversion engine in a 1st Gen Trooper, or stock pull from a 2nd Gen. If it has all the fixin's to be installed in a 1st Gen, then I might be interested in it for my Trooper. I could get an engineless Fiero GT from a friend to put my 3.4L into.

I still think it's kind of a wacky upgrade for a Jeep.

I agree it is a little wackey for the jeep, but for the price, I think it will work just fine. I agree the SM465 is very stout, at 175 pounds for that tranny, its a hermia creator and then some. Its not the stoutness that I really want, its the first gear granny low for finese crawling(and the strength doesn't hurt if I decide to give it some skinny pedal).

thats from the 92-95 trooper, if thats first gen, then I've got you a motor.....just east of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Yeah, for the price I can't argue - and the fact that you already have it... Well, have fun!

92-95 Trooper is a 2nd Gen, so that 3.2L would have been stock. The 1st Gen had the 2.8L stock which makes it an ideal 3.4L swap candidate - but I'm sure you already know all that.
