outta curiosity, what siezed the motor?

I think there's some differences using the late '00+ 3400's with the GA's PCM; mostly because of the m2 injectors, different FPR and pump design, and stiffer EVAP regulations. There's also some other designs that called for changes in the BCM's programming, and may have an influence on the PCM also (if you went with a newer motor and PCM).

As far as I know, there were no changes to the tranny between '99 and '05 (except for internal solenoid differences), but nothing that impact the PCM's control over it, no matter what the year. All 5th gen a/t models used the 4T45-E tranny, as did the Alero.

The EGR changed but it should work as far as the wiring/connector goes for 2000+. You could swap your injectors but it would be better to get a DHP powertunr and start with an 00+ code (or copy the fueling stuff if need be). The 3500 swap would require a bit more work but would be a better option over the 3400. Have to deal with the FPR right now (working on a swap kit now), and the crank position sensor setup.

        Funny that you should ask....

I have a 3400 motor out of a 99 Grand Am. 80k miles on it and it was running perfect. I bought it for my 95 Lumina, but have since decided to step it up to a 3500 DOHC and 6speed setup.

Where are you located? I'm near Chicago....

        Make me a reasonable offer.....

        Thanks!

thanks for the info, i have no idea what seized the motor. kind of a lucky story. ran into a old friend that i havent talked to in years, and he said sumthin about havin a grand am. so i go check it out and the car is beautiful. been sittin for a year so its just dirty. been havin problems tryin to figure out what was needed to swap a new motor. im not really tryin to get myself into a huge project here so im glad i didint just buy a new motor. got the car for a steal, tryin to keep everything cheap.thanks
