  • 3500 swap...

.... I should probably look this up but, would I need the PCM or other computers to make that swap work?

nope but youd want to do some tuning after the swap

the biggest issue is the reluctor wheel on the crank. the 3500 went to a 52 (or is it 54) tooth, were the 3400 and older motors used a 7x wheel for ignition. the cps for the 7x wheel sent the signal to the coil plate were the 3500 sends the 52x signal to the pcm. there is a way around it though. if you look at the 60degreev6.com store, there is a 7x reluctor wheel and sensor kit and it puts the 7x wheel behind the balancer. this allows you to run an older pcm and ignition with the 3500.

but yes, you will need to do some tuning ot get it to run right on an older pcm.
