2.8 to 3.1 swap

We where wondering if anyone could advise us on a engine swap . we have an 89 Cavalier Z24 the block is cracked, We have a chance to buy a Crashed 1994 Cavalier so the question is what needs to be changed to make the swap, are the computers compatible ? will the 89, 2.8 computer work with the 94's 3.1 engine or can the 94s 3.1 computer be put into the 89 or ??
we know that both cars are GEN II the blocks are the same the fuel injection looks the same , The 3.1 DIS has 10 more degrees in the crank pickup I believe. Maybe I'm to old now and remember how easy engine swaps use to be. Anyway If someone could give me an informed answer We would really be gratefull. Thanks

I'm pretty sure it will run fine. Or do a 3400 swap if you want to go fast. Others will know for sure though.

the 3.1l is nothing more than a stroker 2.8l. everything is the same in them, just minor differences. sometimes, coolant pies may be different.

i know people that have done the swap (done one myself) and all we had to change was the egr. the 2.8l uses a vacume egr, the 3.1l is digital. run your 89 ecm and wiring harness, and egr valve. everything else will work just fine.
