  • 3400 into 96 century

To the guys that have swap in a 3400 into a 3100 car how dose it run on the stock program?

    Check out my build:

I don’t doubt AaronGTR's expertise but I read all of the swap institutions on 3400swap.com I read nothing about problems idling or running at WOT.

    and on this post:

a 3400 was swapped into a 97 skylark and he said it "it ran like a champ".

Now I know both 3400swap and the skylark swap use a stock 3400. May my mods cause the problems. I may hold off on the cam or the porting until I can get a tuner what do you guys think?

There was another kid (Haven't seen him for about a year now...). User name was 95-GT.

He had some very extensive internal and external mods done too his 95 Grand Am GT. It seems to me that it ran fine. I'm not sure though if he had some tuning done, which would be hard to do on a 95.

And, since you have a 96 car, you can get it tuned, to a point that is.

I guess the only way to know if it won't run right is to try it out.

Can i assume that as stock 3400 will run "fine" with the 3100 program and injectors?

If i can. Then the cam has nothing to do with a/f ratio. Then porting is going to cause it to run "lean as hell". I dont know. If thats the case maybe ill just skip the porting for now.

My 3400 is stock and runs like it was still 3100 was in there.

I couldn't tell ya if porting the heads would make it run worse, but I doubt its going to kill performance.
