  • 3100 in a RWD volvo?

I just was wondering if this had ever been done before. I've seen the 350 small block in a volvo, but never a 660. I was just thinking about it after I looked at some of the mg conversions and killerbv6.com and a few other site. that would make a for a nice boost from a 4 cylinder volvo engine and give more room for turbo?

Haven't seen one, but would be pretty cool.

I have a friend who would crucify you for even considering this, but I think it's a cool idea. Don't knock the Volvo 4 cylinder though. Go to any European Volvo site and see what kind of power they can get out of those motors.
I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

          Eiether way, badass.

I'd still go TT genIII 660.

BTW what rear suspension do those cars have? (like the model in the first vid)

I know I'm late on this post....but Volvo 740's and other 700 series cars(except for the late model 760's) have solid rear axles.

Ok more specicically the type of suspension is what I was asking about. I.E Trailing arm, leaf, canted 4 link.... etc.

I now know they use a trailing arm type suspension, the specifics I don't know though.

my 940 has basic coil and shock setup. its more or less the same as a 740/760.

                      Sorry I didn't clarify . It's a trailing arm type suspension w/ torque rods, a panhard bar, and a coil spring/shock setup.

                        Cool, thank you.

SO #3 is a torque arm?

This would be a three link set-up? 1 torque arm and two lower control arms? FYI, the "panhard bar" is NOT part of how many "links" are in a particular design, as much as the mini trucking crowd would like to think so.
If that's the design it would be perfect. Though I am back burnering this project for a while.

I also have some messed up idea of my '98 Malibu AWD or RWD

#3 is considered a "subframe." #2 points to the torque rods, that picture isn't very clear in showing them though. I've got a '88 740 that I'm eventually going to V8 swap and make a street/strip car. I was talking about throwing my LQ1 crate engine in it at one time, but I've changed my mind.

Ok, but #3 has a bushing on the far end that allows the axle travel up and down around that fulcrum, correct?
