Ive read that the motor swap uses the factory 2.8l wiring harness, and requires a few wires to be added, and the bulkhead to be changed for the ECU/ECM, by purchasing the repair manuals, you can see the wiring diagrams for the Monte Carlo and Fiero.
    Something cool coming soon...

        Daniel:

You can't use the Fiero harness and 96-up wiring together.

There are 2 ways to go about this.

        1) Get yourself the wiring and ECM from a 91-93 3.4TDC (Olds Cutlass Supreme international, Lumina Z34, whatever). Auto or stick doesn't really matter, but you will need the memcal reprogrammed.

        2) Wire the car yourself for ODB2. IF the donor motor was an automatic, you are going to have real trouble unless you move the transmission from the car as well.

With option 1, you can adapt the Fiero harness to work with the LQ1 setup, but there will be a number of sensors you will NOT be using.

        My recomendation:
Go with option 1. There's less variables, and less headaches to get it running.

First, you'll need the shop manuals for both the Fiero and the 3.4L.

user this link. It's what I used as a reference for my swap.

This page also has a good number of wiring diagrams for download.

For reprogramming the ECM for your particular swap, talk to this dude:

The long and short of it is that you will be modifying the 2.8 harness by putting the NEWER style connectors onto it, then changing the ECM connectors after the firewall to fit the newer ECM.

Go ahead and ask any specific questions you had, but I'm not really at a point that I can just go ahead and write a full "how-to" document just yet.

If you can be patient, I'm taking MY car apart in late march, and I'll be documenting everything... I'm re-doing my harness so that it looks nicer.

Until then, I can answer specific questions, if I can remember
