ok, i am swapping a '00 3400 in place of my 94 3100 in my grand prix. i have read that the 3400 requires a hole to be drilled and tapped in the head for the coolant temp sensor? is this true? i absolutely want my temp guage to work, but im not real happy about drilling holes in my head. any input or ideas is appreciated

You can get a new sensor that replaces the 2nd coolant sensor the computer uses (thermostat area?) with one that has a second signal line. It's part number is listed in the www.3400swap.com guide. It also requires a new connector which is identicle to the TPS connector.

The temp readings will be a little different from before since it's reading from a different location.

not sure what the 94 3100 uses but all it is, is a simple swap from a 2 wire coolant temp sensor to 3 wire and you get the connecter from a 3 wire car and splince in the wire from the head into the 3rd wire. i can't vouch as it being the same as a tps but the look kinda the same
