  • What will this engine fit in? Whats it worth??

Hey guys my grandfather brought this brand new 3.1 V6 crate engine from Gm a while a ago, he was going to put it in my sister's lumina, but the engine never went dead. So now he is stuck with this brand new engine. It's never even been off the pallet. I have some of the numbers and pictures here if you guys could tell me what years of gm cars it would fit into etc... So we can put it up for sale. and how much do you think it's roughly worth?

    thanks

that is what we refer to as a second generation or gen2. it has the aluminum heads and DIS. found ind 90-94 v6 cavaliers, berretas, luminas (not the van), corsicas?, grand prix, maybe the olds cutlass, maybe the grand am, and possibly the buick century. i'm sure there is others. and i'm probbly wrong about a a couple.

I would say then, that is worth more than $1000.

I say it isn't worth much. The average Joe isn't going to replace the motor in any car that came with a 3.1, and I bet anyone interested in performance would go for a 3.4.

i paid $250.00 for a 2002 engine with approx. 30k miles on it. put it on ebay with a starting price of $100 and see where it goes.

iI just bought a brand new gm 3.4l crate engine last month. It came as an assembled block with heads ( what you call a short block i think ), and i paid just under 3000 canadian. Believe me when i say thats the best price i could find. Does anybody know if those heads would fit on this engine?

Yes the heads fit. No you cant use it in your truck because the intakes are completly different.

When I say no I mean there is a shit load of worked involved and only Raven has done it. Basically you end up with a FWD top end turned backwards.

That engine really is not worth that much. I have seen old 2.8L GM crates selling for $200.

You will be lucky to get half what you or your Grandpa paid for it. Sorry but they are a dime a dozen now and really no one wants them.

Other than there is someone else that has built a RWD hybrid. In a 4th gen Camaro, he's on this site and can never remember his username. It's a Beautful blue Camaro though. I'm the only one to also turbocharge my RWD hybrid.

There are NO aluminum heads that will work with you intake or EFi system. Your only option is to swap over a FWD top end and pistons and turn the intake backwards. The a shit load of other things to make it all work.
