I just bought a 93 camaro 3.4 sfi i want to put the entire setup into my 1984 s10 that has a carbed 2.8 and no computer that.... the 700 wires arent connected and the lockup doesnt work but thats getting fixed along with this swap. Ive done similar with a 87 tuned port 350 engine into a 1981 chevy elcamino. I want to use the entire fuel injection setup wiring harness and all into my s10. I know about the water pump, power steering pump and putting an electric fuel pump either external or building a pickup to go in my tank. I want to know has anyone done this sort of swap before and do they have any tricks or recomendations to installing the harness computer and related stuff into my truck. I plan on using the motor almost exactly as it came out of the camaro and will have the vehicles side by side. I will be using my existing 700 in the truck not the 4l60. What kind of nightmares can i expect with the computer and wiring harness? Will the absence of ABS, airbags computer controlled transmission make the swap impossible? And also why do people say you cant use the camaro oil pan in the s10? could it be notched for clearance and welded back up or is it completely out of the question? What about the camaro exhaust maifolds? I searched the post and havent found any applicable information after quite some time reading. does anyone know of a post or website I could check out to answer these and possibly many other questions? Thanks Bill

RE: swap question 3.4 sfi into 84 s10 carb
Bill, first things first....get a subscription to www.alldatadiy.com . You will benefit by getting a subscription for BOTH vehicles. It will cost you $50, but it's the best investment you will ever make in this vehicle. Every wire, wire color, description of circuit, voltage, and point-to-point contacts of every wire used to control the motor's air/fuel ratio, timing and spark are in there. Complete descriptions of the PCM pin-outs, physical views of ALL connectors, big and small. It's priceless. You can download all the schematics you want. Print off all you need, then make your own custom wiring schematic so that when it comes time to make your custom harness, you've got the diagram right in your hand. You might consider putting the entire fuel tank from the camaro into the truck....much easier to fab mounts than to have to buy all the stuff again, that you already have. Besides that pump was designed for that system.

The 3.4 is a pretty common swap so there is a lot of information out there.
You might try http://www.s10forum.com/forum/
Also, the Isuzu guys do this swap a lot of times in their Troopers. You can get a lot of information at http://4x4wire.com in the Isusu tech section of the forums.
Cheers!
