  • 93 S10 2.8 3.1 swap

I have a 1993 2.8 S10 and a 1992 3.1 Camaro/Firebird engine that I want to put in the truck. What would be the better way to do this? Use my current TBI setup and change to 4.3 injectors or do the MPFI from the 3.1 and swap computers? Will the 3.1 computers work on the S10 without any wire conversions? What changes would have to be done to the fuel delivery system to handle the extra fuel? I know I have to keep the 2.8 flywheel no matter what. What would be an easier, cheaper, and most fuel efficient swap?

The TBI swap is a direct bolt in. Thats what I would do.

The MPFI requires a computer change and wiring change along with other bits and pieces.

A 3.1L with the TBI on top will look exactly like stock. This is good if you have smog.

What kind of reprogramming needs to be done to the computer if I keep the TBI?

I have my swap done except for a few wires that I forgot to mark where they go. I am only having a problem with this one, circled in red and white. Can someone give me a hint?

you do not need to use the 4.3 injectors on the 3.1 stick with your 2.8 injectors and increase the fuel pressure to about 13psi. that is how i have my overbored 3.1 setup and she runs beautifuly

do I need to get the computer reprogrammed to get it the fuel pressure to 13psi?

you need to either get or make an adjustable FPR to bring the pressure to 13psi

There ya go. I just recommend the first method to you. I did have that cup I made for sale but I gave it to John for his screamin 3.3L

What is the 2.8 fuel pump pressure at to begin with? How would the wrong pressure affect how it runs?

Between 9~13 would make it run. But with a bigger engine you will need to pump it up above 13 for sure to make it run well at WOT
