  • 3400 or 3800 swap labor?

i'm looking for a rough estimate on what a 3800 or 3400 would be to install, like the labor. i don't have the know-how, the garage or the tools to install a new engine/tranny. what kind of prices can I expect if I decide to do an engine swap. i just don't see much hope for my 2.8L 89 Camaro, sadly. I've been given tips, but I think the highest I can get my car is into the low-mid 14's. 3800/3400 is my second choice for engine swaps, the LT1 5.7 is my 1st, but I don't think I will be able to afford gas for the V8. Go V6. Price quotes, anyone?

    Thanks a lot

Well neither are a bolt in just like a smallblock.

3400 is the closest to being a bolt on. But even at that it aint even close.

If anyone will even take the swap on, it's gonna cost a small fortune. If you can't afford gas for a smallblock then you wont even want to ask the price to do an engine swap.

the 3400 would be a huge undertaking. now if you mean the 3.4l ironhead from the 93-95 f-body, it will bolt right in. if you go with the 3.4l, you can use your trans with it, just make sure the ecm and wiring come from a standard transmission car (if you have an auto, you wont have lockup, unless you run it to a switch on the dash). as for the 3.8l, im not sure if it uses the small gm bolt pattern or not. if it does, you can keep the stock tranny, if it doesntm then you need a different one.
