  • 1991 3.1 to 99 3400 swap

I broke the timing chain in my 91 lumina and it smashed the valves at the same time so i'm thinking of swaping in a 3400 top end out of a 99 van and i was just wondering if i'll have to have the computer reprogramed after i put the 3400 heads and intake on it.

    No Not at all.

Ever thought of a full 3400 swap? If you bashed the valves you might have damaged the pistons.

Got the heads off the engine today and the pistons do have a few nicks in them from where they hit the valves. So does anyone know if i could put a 3400 top end on it and have the block bored our and put early 90's 3.1 camaro/firebird pistions in it do raise compression does anyone know if all of it would work togeather?

you could use 3.1l iron head pistons, however you will be around 12:1 compression, and will need to pay close attention to piston to valve clearances.
