I've been looking at doing a swap on my 92 Z24. Has anyone seen/heard anything about using these engines, or would I be better off using a 3.4?? From what I've seen these new motors are really impressive. I REALLY need to change out my existing 3.1. She's kinda used up.

RE: 3.2, 3.6 VVT Swaps
Due to the recent introduction, used motors are expensive and hard to find, let alone all the wiring/computer(s) you are gonna need. Im not even sure if those motors will fit in your engine bay but its possible. The 3.4 DOHC doesn't fit without modification but it may be a wider motor than the VVT engines as well, I dunno.Ben

From all of what I read I think it would be quite a bit of work concerning the throttle setup. I think the rest may not be too bad. I have found quite a few motors, however the other thing I haven't found is whether they'll bolt up to my five speed or if I'd have to get the new tranny. Anyone know??

All 60º engines use the same tranny pattern, so all of them can be bolted up to any tranny originally bolted to a 60º.-Brad-

Oh really? Well its sweet to see another BC'er
Yea the swap was done over about 2 months. We really took our time. So I guess you've seen the car run and know what the engines can do in a Z24. He just went through Air Care 2 weeks ago and the motor passed better than the old one.
This season he hopes to get to 14 flat all while still passing emissions
If I get my supercharger this season I hope to beat his times.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

yeah I am part of the bcj crew that was out running there last year.. You might have seen me run.. its a white 90.. pretty much stock except for a side exit exhaust...
I was impressed by his numbers.. I remember the 1st night he was out racing and he hit a 14.9... we also had a guy up from just across the border running..

I think I found a standalone which could possibly interface fairly well with these engines. Things that I noted it can do uncommon from most standalones are: WBO2 closed-loop operation, drive-by-wire ability. I looked, but didn't see if it could do the VVT part of it, but it might just be worded differently than I am expecting. Definately a sweet unit, just need to find out the price, at which point it will most likely be too expensive. :/-Brad-

You might try MechTech Motorsports. They make stand alone units. They currently have a unit for the 3.5 DOHC out of Olds Integra/Aurora's. This might be a good alternative for you as the 3.5 DOHS are readily avaliable. They make fairly good horsepower from the factory. about 215 hp. MechTech claims that with the stand alone system and chip/program the 3.5 DOHC will produce approximately 275 hp. Hope this helps.
