I'm doing the 2.8 to 3.4 swap. I bought an engine from a 94 Camaro that is complete. It has everything for the fuel injection including the computer. Is there anyway that this could be hooked up to work in my 84 Blazer. Unfortunately, mine is carbureted with one one those piece of crap Varajets which may be the worst carburetor ever built. I live in the Denver area where we have emission tests not to mention the altitude, and I had a hell of a time to get it to pass. The thing has the common problem where the fuel drips from the venturi at idle. I have the float level down as far as I dare put it but it still drips. Anyway, I would like to convert it to fuel injection if possible. I have all of it from the Camaro. Otherwise, it's useless to me.

RE: Converting carb to fuel injection
shouldnt be much of a problem. did your motor have an auto or standard behind it. if it had a standard, its a direct swap, throw the wiring harness in the truck and it should all work. if it had an auto behind it, its not as easy.
the auto in the 93-95 3.4l camaro was the 4l60e. its an electronicly controlled version of the 700r4 that was in all small gm rwd vehicles 85+. the problem with it being electronicly controlled is the emc must have the tranny hooked to it, if it doesnt, it will set the ecm into "limp mode". now if you have an auto ecm and wiring harness, there are a couple routes you can go to solve this. you could get a custom burned chip (or flash the ecm if its obd2) to take the transmission controll part out of there, you could get a wiring harness and ecm from a standard, or my recomendation (if you want auto) find a used 4l60e. if your truck is auto right now, you will have an old th200 3 speed. the 4l60e is a 4 speed overdrive and is a pretty good tranny. it will take the power of a 3.4 no problem. it would be pretty well a bolt in swap with the motor (you may need a crossmember from an 85+ truck, as well as driveshafts)

RE: Converting carb to fuel injection
I have been driving my 3.4L SFI S10 for more then 5 years now. It has the L32 Camaro setup complete with all the ancilleries. I also put the same motors into MGBs in carbed and SFI versions. The wiring harnesses take a bit of work, but they can be done if you have alot of patience and time. There are other bits and pieces you will need like some way to disable the antitheft as well as a new fuel pump. If your S10 is a 4WD, you will need to change the oil pan to a 1988-1992 2.8L oil pan and the manifolds will need to be changed in a 4WD as well... Only problem is that the 3.4L requires one O2 sensor for each side, so you are better off switching to headers in that case. My S10 (2WD) runs the stock Camaro exhaust manifolds but if i would have been smart at the time, I would have just purchased a set of headers- the cost of the tow dolly for the trip there and back plus the cost of the Y pipe was almost exactly the same as a set of headers. To give a small plug here, yes I sell parts for that conversion.

RE: Converting carb to fuel injection
BTW:
Forgot to mention you will need a proper flywheel or flexplate for your conversion. This MUST be out of a 1988-1992 S10 with the 2.8L V6. No other unit is correct for the app. but alot of others will fit but function wrong. Wanna go all out? I have aluminium flywheels for that motor!

Thanks for all the feedback. Some good info. I'll probably stick with the carb for now due to time and $$. Is there a Holley or some other type carb that anyone has put on to replace the Varajet? Hard to believe that the same company (Rochester) that gave us the Quadra-Jet designed this piece of crap.
