The Vue Redline is NOT supercharged...it is currently powered by a SOHC 3.5L Honda V6. The only things the redline package adds the the Vue are:
Sport-tuned suspension with performance springs and struts, 18" alloy wheels, Fascia and side-rocker ground effects and chrome exhaust tip.

And besides, the 3500 is FAR from a bored out 3400. There are many differences between the 2 engines. Check out here to see the description of the 3500.

              It is.

But its not supercharged. Saturn wanted more power for the redline. But Gm did not have a suitable engine so they bought them from Honda. It is not the first time GM has outsourced.

It is Just fine for boost. Infact a few GM vehicles are soon to be released with boosted 660's. But adding a supercharger to a motor involves alot more than just a bolt on. It costs MILLIONS upon MILLONS of dollars of R&D to release a production supercharged or turbocharged car. Look at the Ford lightning. Its being axed because it costs Ford too much money.

Eh, I wouldn't really say that. When GM released the redlines a lot of the new 60* Motors were still under development. You can't just slap a blower on an engine and expect it to be reliable. The Ecotec motors have been under development for over a decade using Turbo's, thats why GM didn't hesitate too much when they slapped a Blower on it. Depending on how well they end up performing I think GM is planing on using the 3900, 3.6L DOHC (which is planned for the Aura), or Turbo DOHC 2.8L for future Vue Redlines.

IT would cost them too much money to make an acceptable replacement with the new 04 platform. Coming from John Coletti via motortrend i beleive.. the new platform is too big and heavy to make a replacement comparable to the 03 model. Meaning, the truck would need upwards of 550 horsepower and 600 or so lbft of torque, like the lightning concept had. However this concept used a modified version of the ford GT engine. And you can imagine how costly that engine would be, not cost effective enough for a truck. Look at the Rousch F150, its got a MP110 (i beleive) strapped to it, making another 100 horsepower, yet i think it only runs high 14s, compare that to the 03 lightnings with 380hp that ran somewhere in the 13.70-13.90s range.

3.1L to 3.4 DOHC swap with OBDII compliant

Similar question.. Has anyone replaced a 3.1 or 3400 from an OBDII, i.e. 96, and those few odd 97; with a 3.4L DOHC? wiring the same? just need a different computer???
