  • 94 J body 2.2/auto to 3.1/282 how hard??

alrighty my friend he has a 94 VL cavvy its got the 2.2/auto we found a 94' sunbird with the 3.1/282 we can get EVERYTHING for $300.

anyone know what all is onvolved in this swap? does the interior have to be rewired at all? is the 2.2 radiator any different then the 3.1 radiator?

    thanks alot!

if you can get the whole engine cradle, and swap them, that would be the easyest
I think the radiator is the same, and the 4 cyl tack will be off with the v6

now he'll have an excuse for a melon sized tach with a retina burner shift light.

The "engine cradle" is the same between the 4cy and V6...

Yoiu'r best bet is to get the complete donor car, and gut both engine bays, since you will end upo doing that anyway.

Rads are definatly different, along with the sway bar, throttle cable, fuel pump and many other parts.

actually we are just gona put a V6 gauge cluster in it, no silly tachs.
he just wants a driver that can get out of its own way, the 2.2/3 speed just dosen't fit the bill.

we can get almost everything we need from a 94' sunbird, i was sorta figgureing that the rad would have to be changed, and someone else said the sway bar needs to be changed along with the PS lines. now the throtle cables? can i modify the existing ones or am i ahead to just use the ones from the donar car?

You're better off to just use the donor V6 parts, such as teh throttle cable, it takes aboiut 5 minutes to change, and it is the right length with the proper ends on it.
yeah PS hoses, fuel hoses will need to be changed/modified (in the engine compartment), fuel pump, etc.

Go to www.v6z24.com, search in the perfrmance, repair and trouble shooting and general forums for info on this swap. I know there will be a similar swap guide on www.domesticcrew.com, but will be more geared towards the genIII 660 swap.
