Sorry Brad the professor is right. EGR reduces combustion temperature by ALOT. So much infact that it can be the difference between pinging/detonation or smooth operation while crusing. It also brings the temp down so much that it can reduce it below below the threshold of NOx gasses forming during combustion. EGR is the only defence against NOx. The cat or other emissions equipmnet cannot reduce or remove NOx gases.

I knew that whackin' my EGR wasn't gonna be the best thing I could do to engine performance, but I guess I'll take the consequences considering how much better my engine bay looks. I've worked pretty hard at planning every detail so that my engine bay is as stream-lined as I can get it. In a regular GM vehicle, things seem aweful cluttered, with the FWD. I tried to spruce up my sister's corsica a little when I swapped that 2000 motor for her '96, man, that ain't easy. Compared to my spitfire, there's just no room. When I fold open the bonnet on my car(which hinges in the front), I can put my feet on the inside of the driver's wheel, reach over the motor and down, then touch my pants legs underneath. Mind you that I don't have any exhaust headers yet, and the fact that my car is Right Hand Drive, makes it a little easier. I have so much stuff showing, that wouldn't ordinarily, that I'm trying to get rid of everything I can except ABSOLUTELY necessary inputs to the PCM. I doubt that the EGR has any ill effects on my set-up, as long as I can attain a good flowing exhaust. This car will never be about mileage, just thrust-to-weight ratio!!!!!!!!!.............................Quintin

Hey, I just read thru the thread and I like the idea of headers. I currently have no options right now as far as getting some and I'd love to see some made.

My question is tho, is would you be making them for a certain group of people (like w-body cars) or are you trying to make them for all 3100/3400 owners? Reason I'm asking is because different cars with the 3100/3400 have different engine bay sizes and dimensions and it might be difficult to make headers for all of them (unless you're making different kits for different cars. In that case just forgot everything I just said).

And how much would you be asking for headers? A guy on the MyMonte board was supposed to start production of headers for us 5th gen Monte guys a while back, but the "guinea pig" never showed up.

I had these made a few weeks ago and nearly sold out. $65 shipped anywhere in the US if anyone wants one. They come with bolts, you can reuse your original gaskets. I only have maybe 2 or 3 left, but I can get more made if people are interested.

                    I take paypal.

What ever happened to the header situation? This turned from an EGR adapter and header construction to just talk about EGR adapters.

How about some REAL power adders?
