I would go for an egr adaptor plate for my 2003 3400 if they are available fairly quickly. I'm in the middle of my swap right now. My question is do you keep the stock 3400 exhaust manifold? If so I will need to acquire the downpipe so it will angle the exhaust downward since the 3400 exhaust manifold angle is not the same as the 3100. Let me know.

since i went from a 94 3100 to a 2002 3100 and both exhaust ports on the heads are D- shaped, i used the exhaust manifolds that came with the car( ie; the original exhaust setup). if you are going from an older 3100 to a newer 3400 you can use the exhaust setup that's already on the car.
as for the adapter plate, on my setup, you use the new style EGR flex tube.
i will talk to my machinist friend and see how soon he can put out some more plates.1994 Oldsmobile Achieva (2002 3100 SFI)

didn't someone make an adapter to convert '95 to a 98ish style?? It might not even be necessary to have an adapterBrian

Wouldn't it be more economical to just cut the whole egr section off the upper plenum and weld the holes shut. DHP will re-write the values so it never needs to see it. You won't have to worry about plates, or leaks, or bad digital units, or any of that stuff. It just seems like a whole lot o' work for squat. I don't mean to sound sarcastic at all. My suggestion is exactly what I did..........No codes, no troubles.......No EGR!

no. the EGR is #1 an Emissions component that helps reduce the amount of pollutants that are left over or are the result of the combustion process. #2 is used to release inert gases into the combustion chamber during cruising speeds and deceleration to reduce the amount of fuel consumption. you don't need as much fuel to get upto a certain speed as you do to maintain that speed. also, you don't need much fuel to keep the engine running during deceleration, but you do need SOMETHING there.
BTW, the EGR releases hot exhaust gases into the combustion chamber, which means that it would cause increased combustion temperatures.1994 Oldsmobile Achieva (2002 3100 SFI)
