Does anyone know the spline count for the input shaft needed for the 60degree v6's? I'm going to be looking for a T5 now that I realised the 4 cylinder 2.2 tranny sucks balls.

All T5s are 14 spline until the 93+ 3.4l in the Camaro, which is 26. However, the 93+ uses a Ford-style case and will not bolt up to an earlier bell housing.
Edit: According to Clutch.net, the early Camaro tranny uses 14 splines 1"1/8 long. A 2.2l S10 uses 14 splines 1" long. An easy way around this is to use a Camaro flywheel.

On a side note, The 83-85 Jeep Cherokee bell housing will bolt up to the Mustang/93+ Camaro tranny. However, these bell housings are difficult to come by. I would have used one in my conversion if I could have sourced one (I was sent the wrong bell housing twice!).
Use a T5 from a S-10 or a -92 Camaro. However, only one will work! You'll have to be the judge of that. While the bolt patterns are the same, the shifter location is not; the S-10 shifter is in the middle of the transmission while the Camaro is by the output.
You should also check the starter location on the DOHC block. I believe the FWD and RWD motors had the starters on opposite locations. If you have your heart set on DOHC, www.killerbv6.com had a custom bell housing that might help you.

The drivetrain is going into a chevette, and yes the starter is on the drivers side. I figure I would like to use the V6 camaro bellhousing since it has the dual starter bulges to accomidate the FWD starter as is. The fact that it is rotated, I'm not sure if that will cause me a problem or not. I think what I really should find out is what spline count the 2.2l 4 cylinder tranny has, because I think I'd want to use that internal slave cylinder if problem to avoid the problems of the clutch fork sticking straight out instead of downish which the stock chevette one did.

I can't guarantee that a Camaro bell housing will fit a FWD starter. However, it probably wouldn't hurt to cut a notch in the bell housing for the starter. The material covering the starter doesn't appear to be structural and probably acts as a dust cover (I hope!).
