  • 3100 Kick down Cable

If I swap from a 3.1 to a 3100 or 3400(00 & Up) what do I do for the kick down cable. Where there 3100's with the 4T60 transmission? Or were they all 4T60-E?

What can I do to make it work?

You will need the quad 4 throttle cable box that allows you to connect 2 or 3 cables from 1 cable.

The funny thing about this is, I have a TB, from a 3100 (99% sure on that it was a 3100), that has a bellcrank for what should be a TV cable, I don't know what car it came from, but some research could probably yield something on this.

I used my stock kickdown cable and put a screw with a nut screwed almost all the way up (screwing the nut partway up the bolt makes the nut not allow the screw to go any further into the hole, giving me a spot to put the cable around the screw in between the head of the screw and the nut) through the extra hole in the throttle on the tb, and then I put a nut on the other side to tighten it down. I ground down the head of the bolt until the end of the kickdown cable fit on it firmly. This allowed me to put the bolt on the tb and then put the kickdown cable over it. I then used a ziptie to temporarily bend back the extra slack in the cable that there was until I got a chance to cut the cable to a shorter length. This would've worked fine except I pulled the cable back too far, so it was too tight at WOT and the part on the end that wraps around the screw broke clean off. So now I'm shifting it through the gears manually. So basically if you do this, and cut the cable shorter, but not too short, it will work great without having to buy a new cable. I just did it too quickly and messed up. It worked good for about a week though.

Actually there are many earlier TB cable brakets that have a square hole to fit the TV cable. On the TB linkage there is that big half moon shaped mount. You'll need a universal throttle cable kit(can be had at pepboys for example). Hook it up there and your 440 will work.
