  • Chevette + 3.4DOHC?

I am wondering if the chevette has a large enough bay to put the 3.4 Dohc in. I am thinking if you could put it in, fitting even the stock manifolds may be a problem. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Well people say it wont fit in an N body or A body so a Chevette may be a long shot. But with some masaging it may go it.

I'm not sure if a 3.4 DOHC would fit, but a 3.4 from a camaro/firebird will and you can pick those up really cheap. I wanted to to build a turbo 3.4 chevette for a while.

i have a 3.1 TGP setup, though it would be a real b|tch to put into a rwd application, unless i didn't run any accessories. I want a 3.4DOHC because of the good top end and willingness to rev. If this doesn't pan out I'm just going to have to go with the 3.1 NA and be happy with it.

if you get measurements from the chevette i have a 3.4 here and out that i can measure for you. you should trade me the turbo setup back for the dohc and a 700r4

ive been kicking myself since i sold that to you.

heres a deal for ya.... if you replace that 700r4 with an s10 late model 4 cylinder tranny or v6 fbody tranny, and maybe a wireingharness,

That or a pre MAF wiring harness, tranny and s10 rear end with a posi, then i'd just run the 3.1 stock pretty much, maybe just a wild cam, and some gen 3 heads perhaps.

Those things would probally get me swap turbo shtuff no prob.

ok, i should have been more specific, it has to be a manual tranny with either the dual starter bulges or the reverse side starter bulge

heres a pic with a OHV in it, from the looks of it, the heads will clear the fenders, no problem, but there might be problems with the master cylinder, I cann't really tell if that one has manual brakes or not, if its that close with a booster converting to manual brakes might help out. Or maybe I could just mount the mastercylinder somewhere else? Or maybe this is to much work and i should just put in the OHV?

could mount the m/c under the floor like most cars did before the 50's.

thats what i was thinking, it'll just be a bit of work, could just get a pedal box set, move the seat back, mount inside the car, and i'd be fine.

Do you think you could get me that tranny? I'd love to make that swap.

A 500cid Cadillac will fit, a BBC will fit, I'm sure the 3.4DOHC will fit. It's all in the placement.
