  • Which injectors to use? 3400 in a fiero

hey all, i am putting a 02' 3400 in my 87 Fiero. gunna use ecm 1227730 from a 93 corsica 3.1 auto. should i use the 3400 injectors? or the fiero injectors? or even the corsica 3.1 injectors ( 3.1 and fiero inj look very similar, maybe the same?). thanx

    From what I have collected....

Use the 7730 ecm with the 3.1 injectors and the 3400 FPR. Then you should be good to go.

You can use the Fiero injectors....but the 3.1 are a better design.

The 3400 injectors are the ones to use but you need to reprogram the computer to use them.

hmmm, 2 different views.. both of which i was thinking myself... i do plan on reprogramming, just not right away... currently the 3400 inj are still in there, so would it run ok enough with 3400 inj until i reprogram? or will it be running badly?

From what I've heard it will run very rich with the 3400 injectors until you get it reprogrammed.

Yeah, and you wont have all of the power with the smaller injectors...so either way its kinda screwed. It would run better with 3.1 injectors though on the 3.1 ECM. Are you familiar with programming these computers?

I would just use the 3400 injectors, then bolt a turbo on to help deal with the extra amount of fuel involved.

welp, i had the 3400 inj in , and basically it ran like a$$. i expected it to be rich like you all said,(i could light the exhaust with a torch and it would keep burning on its own for some time) but its really not drivable... and i really dont have the extra $$$ for a reprogram now, so the 3.1 inj went in... and wow, it runs SO much better now... seems real good so far... so it will have to remain like this until i scrape together enough reprograming monies or if someone can help out on a heavily discounted 3400 code / chip. (can trade) either way, thanx all for the input!

You can buy an eprom burner for $40, and the code editing software for that particular application is free, since GMPCM Evaluation Edition supports it with the $A1 definition file included in the download package.

Anyone have the 3400 injector harness diagram? I just need to know which wire is which on the injector clip for the 3400. The rest wont be a problem.
