  • 3.1 --> 3.4 DOHC almost complete, almost

    Hi,

    I'm still struggling with the ending of this engine swap. Unfortunate for me: I'm a mechanial gimp and confused.

    Situation:

    I have a '90 Cutlass which used to have a 3.1L engine. Now I have a '95 Monte Carlo 3.4 DOHC engine connected to a '96 Monte Carlo engine wiring harness, computer, passenger side engine fuse pane,l and computer wiring harness.

    I tried the remote start idea from rednblackcutlass. The engine turned over at about half normal speed. I used 14 awg wire to the small postive connector on the starter solenoid and 10 is used by GM. However isn't the power that goes to the starter drained from the big positive connector on the starter solenoid and already has a cable that runs to the battery?

    I'm sorry but I haven't yet connected the fuse panel to the battery yet. There isn't a provision for a battery cable connection on there. However there is a large positive cable that runs to it that I can tap into.

    Anyone with more advice/help/compassion for a fellow 60v6 guy trying to do the right thing for a car he learned to drive in?

    MOe

    As far as the rest of the swap (i'm pretty sure):

    All that's left is checking connecting 2 unfamiliar electical connectors with vaccum lines attached to them, some sort of plastic air pipe that wants to connect right after the throttle body (but there isn't a connector for it to go to), connecting the O2 sensor after the catylitic convertor if I really need it.
