3900 into 2005 subaru legacy AWD
I took off the front timing cover today and set the engine to tdc. I then looked and counted the teeth on the crank trigger wheel. The sensor was 14.5 teeth from the "missing tooth".
This was then determined that tooth one was 87 degrees btdc.
This is the critical setting I will input into the mega squirt.

Coil pack setup to mount behind the cylinders. I will take the coil pack 12v in from the existing Subaru coil pack power supply.
Relocated clutch Slave and clutch arm. Had to do this as the 3900 was now in the way of the slave.
Almost have the oil pan welded up.

This is pure awesome, for sure. I bet the subi guys are all thinking you are nuts.
It's also awesome seeing you making progress, not asking how to do it since I bet this is the first one done, and it's unique for sure. Big props

Ok. First issue:
For the pilot bearing.
On the stock Subaru it sits inside the flywheel.
By chance the 3x00 flywheel hole is the same size and the bearing sits in there. Problem is that it sticks out too far as the flange that centers the flywheel sticks halfway into the flywheel hole.ill get pics to explain better.
My question is: can I machine down the lip/flange of the crank snout flush with the crank. This would mean that the flywheel would be centered by the bolts and not the center lip.
Is this ok. I also tried to find a bearing that is thinner but that is a no go. And the reason I need to do this is that when mating the engine and transmission the bearing starts touching the input shaft splines and doesn't allow the engine/ trans to mate fully.
Any ideas ?

Shimming it out would help but then it gets closer to the firewall. I'll make up a custom bushing. Looks like this one will be modded. If I turn it down and add a lip it can get pushed into the crankshaft hole. Looks like the inside is already the right dia for the Subaru pilot shaft tip
Also started on the headers
