  • Will it fit?

I was thinking of how cool it would be to have an rx7 fc powered by a 3400 sfi. I heard the engine bay is a tight squeeze, can anyone confirm whether or not there is room? Also, if i used a t-5 or 700r4 would the shifter be in an odd unmanageable location? Anyone with any info will be appreciated.

I believe it will fit, even without needing to notch the crossmember or oil pan. I measured about 13" from the crossmember to where the stock bellhousing sits. (There's an FC sitting in my shop right now).

Since people do V8 swaps in them it's reasonable to assume that a car T5 will have an appropriate shifter location.

wow nice. do you know how much work they have to do to get an 8 in there? i imagine there has to be some cutting involved.

No idea but there are a few local ones with ls1 swaps. Rotaries are cool but they just don't last as long.

LS1/T56 is pretty much a bolt-in deal with a kit that you can buy. 60v6 would probably be just as easy other than making the mounts.

Chances are there's already a T5 crossmember available. You could start with that to locate a 60*/T5 combo in the engine bay, then just make mounts.

Ya and as well a T56 driveshaft would fit a T5.

My main focus is getting a camaro, maybe firebird. But later down the road, this is something i really want to make happen. Oh and do those have irs or solid axle??
