  • Buick Rendezvous what fits?

I have been told that a used engine for a Rendezvous has to come from one to avoid swapping parts, I'm looking for info on what will fit and what may need to be exchanged to the replacement engine if it were to come from a Grand Am, or a minivan etc. I'm not afraid or unable to swap parts, just doing my research to help make the most cost effective choice.

It depends on the year of Rendezvous. The last year or two (you'll will have to verify actual years) used a crank trigger system more like the 3500 crank trigger (56x), where as the earlier and other 3400 applications used a 7x crank trigger. There is no easy swap between these two systems. Externally they are very much alike, though again, certain years, if not all Rendezvous, used a unique intake that placed the throttle body at the passenger side of the engine bay, instead of the driver side.

Thanks for the reply. I need to verify that I'm working with a 2002, after I posted yesterday I did some more poking around I found that 2003 is when the crank trigger changed. As far as the intake I will be putting the Fel-Pro gaskets in anyway, I usually use the vehicle harness, I've also found that the fuel rail is likely different as well. The one in it has head issues, I may find a used cheap enough to make sense to go that way. I'll keep posting on what I find and how it goes in case anyone else runs into replacing one of these.
