I have been thinking of putting a 3400 in my 4X4 S10 but figured the starter wouldn't clear as it is on the wrong side. You obviously had no starter clearance issues?'86 S10 Blazer 4WD, '87 2.8 with 3.1 crank and pistons, A.R.I. The bellhousing was trimmed for the starter and there was a dimple put in the crossmember for it as well; the 3400 has a much smaller starter on it though and I doubt it would need the dimple.'89 Firebird, 3500 Turbo, T56, 9-bolt/4.11

Actually if you wanted to do this without trimming the bellhousing, grab a 94-95 bellhousing/T5 from a 2.2L engine. Or a 94-95 bellhousing with a mustang t5 and swap over your s10 tailshaft.
In any case, we took this for a rip the other night with an N/A belt and tried out 8F. Tune is actually very close already. Time to run it with the charger . The charger is still super loud at idle because the BOV is constantly open... Might need to get a bigger BOV because its like the charger is forcing air out of a tiny BOV.'89 Firebird, 3500 Turbo, T56, 9-bolt/4.11

On to supporting mods...
Stock gas tank cross brace had rusted away, so two new ones went on
Spare 3rd-gen F-body sway bar installed (from a rear end I bought)
Homemade traction bars ($60 in materials). Also, 3" lowering blocks
Also got some free 3" lowering springs for the front
Air filter for the charger
And a few more of the truck
As far as driveability goes, $8F is great so far with some minor tweaks. It's hit low boost already but some issues with our makeshift couplers has led to boost leaks preventing more. Proper couplers should be arriving any day now.Last edited by caffeine; 02-03-2015, 04:36 AM.'89 Firebird, 3500 Turbo, T56, 9-bolt/4.11

Not that it would be a great coincidence, but are you also thinking about designing your own BOV?1999 GLS MP90 supercharged / 2003 GL MP62 supercharged / 2004 GLS stock

Would be hilarious to put a duck call on it though lol. Just because its constantly open at idle
In my case, I don't have one yet. It's going to need one, maybe 2 of the largest available, so I'm looking at a big investment there.
But I already have the internal and external standard-type bypass valves (not BOV), so it should be closed at idle.
I'm already on plan "C" lol1999 GLS MP90 supercharged / 2003 GL MP62 supercharged / 2004 GLS stock

I'm in a similar situation, Gen-II RWD conversion - because those are the parts I have...
