  • 2.8 stroker works great..

So I pulled the 2.8 from my Fiero..Put in 3.1 crank, bored 40 over and with higher compression pistons,444 cam and headers..Also ported and polished Plenum, runners and heads..The power increase was more than I planned on..I wasnt trying for a race car, just an improvement..For the low cost and not a bunch of time, it was well worth it..I jus wanted to post this for anyone else thinging of doing this..

Pics please. And thank you for building a not so loved engine. I sure miss my 3.1! I had big plans for that engine on the rebuild.

Its actually still the 2.8 engine, just stroked with a 3.1 crankshaft..I like the reliability of the 2.8 intake system and gaskets so I didnt use any of that stuff from a 3.1..I will post a few pics..

        Isn't a 3.1 just a stroked 2.8 anyway? Making this a 3.1 after all?

Yep, 2.8's and 3.1's are the same block.. all 3.1's are stroked 2.8's.

Can those bores take .040 over and still last?

Yep. not much more though.. i've heard of .060 after a very thorough inspection but at that point it's just easier to start with a 3.4 block.
