Hi guys Im new here and have a few questions. First is how reliable is the LL2 E-code R i just bought an 88 s-10 Durango? The guy told me the oil pump had went out and I didnt know if this is a comon thing or not and should I be looking for some thing else as a problem. My fix is to install a H/V oil pump but i dont want to do that and not fix the initial problem. I plan on taking the heads off and putting new head gaskets on and clean everything up since it had been sitting for over a year before I bought it for 300.00. now my next question is will the LB8 MPFI heads bolt to my block? I'm not trying to go crazy with power if I wanted that I'd drop in a 350, I just want to make it breath better since everything I've seen on here says they suck at breathing. i bought this truck for hauling and going fishing. (till I get the "I need more power" bug) lol and what do i need to get from the donor vehicle if the LB8 works?

You can pull the engine and change the pump. But DO NOT install a high volume pump. Just buy a stock replacement pump for a 3.4L. It will be a higher capacity pump than the stock 2.8L one and it will be all cast iron so it will not wear out.

Your iron heads are as good as it gets if you want to keep the stock intake and fuel injection. Some cheap easy things you can do is a swap to COMP Cams 1.6:1 magnum roller tip rockers and their accompanying valve springs. The rockers usually run under $150 and the spring under $90.

ok so i work part time in an autoparts store and i have the melling 4.3 pump in stock but looking at the mounting to the block its not the same the 4.3 bolt holes at like diaginal from each other but the 2.8 is straight across not to mention the 4.3 has a hole up to the mounting flange but the 2.8 has like a triangle shaped cut out in the mounting flange area. so now my question is how can i use the 4.3 on a 2.8 if the mounting hole arent the same im sure i could rotate the pump till the holes line up but doesnt that make the oil pump shaft out of line now?? sorry for all the questions i know more about my little hyundai than this s-10 but im willing to learn!

        3.4, not 4.3.
