  • 2003 3.4 Stand alone???

    Hello Everybody...

I've been searching.... Reading and learniing. I'm new to V6 Swaps. I've done V8 stuff before.

My donor is a 2003 Olds Mini Van... I have the whole van.

I want to install the Engine into my Toyota based Tube chassis rock crawler. I can bolt the 60Degree V6 to the Toyota 5 speed by using a Jeep 4cyl Bell housing.
I need to build or wire a stand alone SFI.

Can I stay with my existing SFI or should I convert it to something older?? Can my ECM be retuned to remove VATS... Auto trans stuff... 2nd 02... and other Emission stuff? who can do the reflash or tune?
Anybody got a Wiring Diagram for a stand alone?

Any info on this would be great. Thank you

    Welcome to the site

I'm not sure if your existing PCM can be tuned, but you can track down a PCM supported by HPTuners or DHP and have someone here reflash it to remove those items.

Using the stock system would be the easiest, just trim the wires from the harness that you don't need and plug 'er in.

I don't think it really matters. I'm using a auto trans harness/ecm with my manual. And it's obd 1.5, so obviously it isn't tuned... Doesn't idle super well when cold.. But think that may be due to other issues. Just have to set the gear selector switch to drive and wire the neutral safety together. It may be different on a 2003, but I kinda doubt it.
