  • Swapping a 94' 3100 for a 94' 3.4 DOHC

Heres the story. I rolled my old cutlass with a 3.4 in it (lets say speed was a factor). I bought a new cutlass but it has a 3100 in it. I want to swap them but he only question I had was about the electrical. I have the 3.4 wiring harness, can I just remove the 3100 harness right at the firewall and plug in the 3.4 DOHC harness? The way it sounds from what I have read that this will work. Also anybody know where I can get some headers for the 3.4 before I put it in? I can make my own, just don't have a lot of time.

Yes, you can just plug it in.
One thing to keep in mind, they both use the 4t60E, but I believe they are geared different, so you will need to use your old trainy, otherwise you can forget 4th gear. You'll also have to reuse your old fuel lines, dog mounts, rear motor mount, serpentine belt and probably a few other things that I can't think of right now.

It's not the easiest of switches, but I'm sure somebody here has done it.

Headers? Yes. Almost anyone makes them! Aaron Motorworks is a good start! I am kidding! Nobody makes headers for this motor. This has been a long conversation on this site! We are still hoping. Aaron built a set. They looked good too. I really don't think they help that much. He says it sounds like crap.

Headers will help a shitload. Stock manifolds are pathetic.

Why do you have to use the old fuel lines? Do you mean from the tank all the way forward? If thats was you mean Im kicking my self in the ass.........I think I threw them away. Maybe they are buried somewhere in that thing I call a garage.

3100 and 3.4 dohc use the same line up to the flexible hose off the fender to the fuel rail, but those are even compatible(flexible and same size).

the trans are interchangable but the 3.4 trans has a different final drive ratio to aid off the line(not a big difference though).

its plug and play provided you saved all the mounts, heater hoses, and exhaust downpipe.
