  • 3.4L DOHC into '94 Camaro

Looking to swap a 3.4L DOHC into my Camaro, which was a pushrod 3.4L originally. I have the entire harness and engine from a Lumina (I think, gotta re-check) engine needs a rebuild which is alright, having it re-ringed if I can, else new cast pistons will be used. It will be a lightly boosted engine, probably less than 7psi MAX. Now, question is, will the Lumina ecu interface with my stock v6 harness? When I pulled the motor from the Camaro I lost 90% of the sensors and a lot of the wires were cut (drunk engine pulling is bad) so I doubt I can re-use it, although I still have the stock ecu and if I can't work the DOHC harness in I can get a second pushrod harness for 100$ or so.

Ideas? I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, but informed ideas I don't have. Thanks for any help.

you'll need to use the harness from the lumina
I've been planin on the swap too ( with a 94-95 dohc)
one thing you'll have to overcome, is the lq1 is alil more the 2 in taller than the l32

Alrighty, that doesn't seem too tough to do, but will the Lumina harness work with my stock gauges? I really hope so....

I don't see why they wouldn't considering how close the engines are related. It isn't the engine that will make things non-compatible with the gauges, it would be the way things are hooked up, or the sensors themselves. You might want to see how your temp, oil pressure, and the like gauges compare to the Lumina gauges (my two Z34's oil pressure gauges read up to 80 psi). I would get ahold of the wiring diagrams for your car and the Lumina. If the engine/harness came out of a 91/3 Lumina, I can help you out for the wiring diagram for it.

Exactly. I would consider trying to get a manual for the Camaro and one for that year of the lumina (book two has emmisions and electronics) Those diagrams will show you everything. Try Ebay.
