  • Swaps for 3sp auto 85 Celebrity with blown 2.5L?

My 3 speed auto 1985 Celebrity's 2.5L I4 died. It was getting awful MPG anyways, so I'm debating a carb'd swap. What options are there? I suspect my original MPG issue was from either a broken/short in the harness or a broked ECU. I figure carb'd i'd avoid either. Maybe i'm thinking the wrong way here. I just need to get my car back to life with something I can find at a junkyard. Thanks in advance for the suggestions! I'd *love* to convert this old beast to a 4 speed standard, but that's probably gonna cost way more than the old thing is worth. Opinions?

I had a 85 celeb eurosport! It was ballin'! It had the old style tail lights that were sectioned 6 ways each instead of the later style and had the quad headlights! I'd yank the wiring out and install a V6. A stick shift would be sweet too! I dunno if they ever came with a stick shift in any form but hell that'd be sweet. I looked for a celeb as a beater car and couldnt. Id imagine it wouldnt be too hard to find a donor harness since the century's and cieras and 6000's were the same platform. Make it haul ass! They had a coupe versions of the celebrity and some even had ground fx. I think it was the VR or something? I've seen 2 in person, one was at the yard and I wanted to pull the body kit bc its so rare but I knew I'd never be able to sell it.

Ive got an 85 with the 6 tail lights and the quad headlights. I wanna sell it, its down in WV if you're interested ill take some pics. Putting flywheel on it so the I4 will run again, but if i keep it, i want a bigger engine definitely.. Its a coupe (2 door) btw. Its in pretty good shape, needed a little minor body cleanup which ive done. Ill attach pix tomorrow if you want after i drop in flywheel. its the gf's car but she's finally coming around to the way of standards!
