  • Upper Intake Manifold question

    Not sure if it is right section to post.

    I went to junk yard to grab 3400 engine cover from 1997 Chevy van on my 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix with polished 3100 engine yesterday. I use it for keep it stop the dust or raining from road trip for car show. Anyway, I noticed that van have a blank upper intake manifold. Will it work on my 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix from 1997 Chevy van? I kind like blank upper intake manifold for "smooth" look instead raise letter as "3100 sfi".

    Look at the EGR configuration (side mount vs top mount). Other than that it should work just fine. You could always shave the lettering off of your current one if you didn't want to have to buy another one.

      Although the blank top plenum is nice, I would keep your existing and modify it if wanted, as it is a better internal design.

        Thanks for tip. Not bad idea for shave it down. Junk yard upper intake manifold cost 20 buck as it is lot of 3100/3400 engine all over at junk yard. I think I count like 40 of them. Maybe I will just keep leave it alone. I know 1997 is very old with lot of mileage as mine is 2003. It is kind rough spot to polish with raise lettered around. lol But it is still look great. Lot of people really like it during car show because they never seen it before.

          you can shave it and stil have it look decent but with the whole polished thing that may take a bit more work to get it perfect.
          i painted my old 3400 one i shaved and it looked decent.

            not only that but the van no writing uim is the worst one to get. it has a hump after the tb inlet. very restrictive.
