possible 2000 malibu engine swap

hey guys i have a 2000 malibu with the 3.1 v6 automatic. the engine has 166k and has been acting kinda wierd, sp ive been wanting to find another engine to build meanwhile and swap it in later when it gives out. my question is what will bolt in to the transmission and whats a good engine to swap in that i can mildly build to also get some more power out of this car

Any of the FWD 60V6's will bolt to your tranny. The most common swaps for this would be either the 3400 or 3500. The 3400 will be more of a direct swap, whereas the 3500 will require some additional items in order to work, but will also provide a higher HP base to start with.
