  • Could the 7X ext. CPS for 3500 swap fit here??

I am not keen in cutting part of my subframe out of my j-body to make room for the CPS, being a convertible I want it to be as strong as possible, especially with the good power the 3500 makes. I also know even in non-J bodies the rear mount has to be modified to make room for the sensor, I believe.

So after looking long and hard at my motor, I can't see why the bracket that holds the sensor couldn't be modified and welded to the plate on the timing chain cover, as shown in the pic. I don't believe it would be in the way of the belt or any pully's.

    Opinions??

possible, but i don't think a lot of people WANT to weld to their timing covers.

Not the actual cover, the metal bracket that is there.

the piece that you have to cut out on a Jbody will not make any structural difference to the car.

Some people just cut the front lobe off of the rear mount, i cut mine and re-welded it back on 90 degrees to line up with a hole that was already there so the mount structure is actually better than before.

where your are proposing to put the sensor is very close to the subframe rail on a Jbody, that's actually a worse spot than where every one else puts theirs.

And after further progress, that metal plate had to be removed to relocate the tensioner pulley.

Note to self, think through "great ideas" more carefully when they are formed after drinking beer.
