2000 3.1 Malibu engine and tranny into 1997 Malibu

Both are malibus. I have a wrecked 2000 with a good motor and a good 1997 that has a blown headgasket. I want to just drop the subframe assys and swap the good 2000 setup into the 1997. I'm thinking I will need to swap the ecm and maybe the harness. Any info would be great. Thanks

easier to do a head gasket IMO lol, you are going to have to swap upper intakes for the different EGR and possibly lower i believe, for the coolant bypass, so if thats the case i would sooner do the head gaskets, you might just have leaking LIMG's. replace with felpro upgraded steel gaskets for LIMG, the coolant bypass is the steel line running to the firewall right behing the thermostat on the drivers side under the TB
