  • lq1 f-body?

Has anybody ever done one? I've been searching all night and I found this picture on 3rdgenfbody

He never finished the project though... I don't think.

Has anyone else ever tried this?

Would it be possible to move the lq1 heads and accessories to a rwd3.4?

I had given this a brief thought before. The motor is a bit too maintenence heavy to be considered for a viable swap in my opinion. (not to mention that I dont think that it would have fit beneath the cowl of a 4th gen.)

Gotta give props to this guy for even trying.

And no, you cant swap the heads onto a RWD block. The cam valley and oiling are too different.
Took a break from working on the car. Got some better tools, got a better shop, got a better job... Its time to burn metal!

I dont think the motor is too "maintanence heavy" for a swap. Turning the motor 90* sure gets rid of the headaches of working on the car. The alternator is accessable and the timing belt would be easy to change. You wouldnt be able to use the stock intake in its current configuration because the throttle body would be up against the fire wall. I cant remember if someone said you can turn the whole UIM/LIM the other direction or not. That would make the throttle body face forward if you can do that. I think it would all fit under the hood. Just by looking at that picture, it looks like there is plenty of room to close the hood, even after the intake is installed. Dont get me wrong, it will probably be alot of work to swap an LQ1 in, but I think it would be doable with the right skills and know-how.
