88 2.8 to replace 89 3.1, both regals, any advice??

I've got a $150 89 regal that is fairly solid, but the 3.1L motor is shot (broken rod)

I've also got a $300 88 regal with a strong 2.8L, but the body, interior, and more is crap

I've got access to a cherry picker and tools. SO is there anything I should have problems with if I try to swap the 2.8L from the 88 regal into the 89 regal? Anyone have any advice?

Keep in mind I am a noob to working on cars...I've done oil changes, transmission service, plugs and wires, and a few other things...so an engine swap is a pretty big step

I bought both cars to learn on...and drive to work. Plus I always liked Regals

Yup you can swap the engines across. However what I would do is try and save that 3.1L crank and try to build up a 3.1L from whatever good parts you have between the 2 engines.
