The torque converter shown there looks to be a bit different in mounting and the starter pocket is on the same side as a fwd (unless the photo was accidentally mirrored) but the bellhousing bolt pattern looks right.
Yes it will work. All 4L30E transmissions used by Isuzu had the metric bolt pattern and will bolt up. But be warned they are NOT reliable transmissions and were GM's weakest automatic transmission. Also the OD gear was an afterthought and added to the back of the trans which created a second oil pan.
Thanks guys.
The Isuzu bell housing makes this attractive for placing FWD engines into RWD cars. At least light weight, modestly powered ones. Hopefully the TCU will talk to a GM obd1 ECM.
I find it humorous that there are a ton of BMW's using this transmission. All that fabled German engineering don't you know.
Weakest trans as in overall or just in the RWD series? Cause my Dad's BMW has this trans and his motor is more power stock for stock than my 3100...
First year of the trans is 1990. You could always use a 9396 OBD1 PCM to control both engine and trans....

1994 3100 BERETTA. 200,000+ miles 16.0 1/4 mile when stock. Now ???
Original L82 Longblock with LA1, LX9, LX5 parts
Manifold-back 2.5" SS Mandrel Exhaust. Hardware is SS too.
Weakest by design. The number after the "L" denotes vehicle gross weight catagory. So a 4L30E is weaker then a 4L60E is weaker than a 4L80E.
The specifications say it has a maximum input torque of 258 ft-lbs, so I would guess it is OK for a under 200 Ft-lb engine. As I understand it most of the problems are related to not having a dip stick and being run dry. The recommendation is a flush and fill every 25k miles. I would be more concerned about a 4L30E in a 4WD application than in a BMW.
Are the transmission setting editable on a 93-95 ECM? I will want to edit the shift points.
